Given that MXR Films’ founder and owner, Marlon, was not accepted into UT Austin’s film production thesis class, Smith made ¿Cuando Perdí mi Cabeza? as his final project for the cinematography class. Having some experience with shooting his friends’ films and projects digitally, Marlon thought it would be a great opportunity to challenge himself and shoot his last college film on 16mm film. This experimental narrative follows a soon-to-graduate college senior who tries to set himself up for success post-graduation but loses a part of his identity. Will he find it or will his head remain lost?
This short is currently in its festival circuit and is set to premiere publicly in late 2025.
